Founded by a former elementary school teacher, Kid Scoop News is a one-of-kind award-winning monthly 28-page newspaper publication for elementary aged students. The in-print publication is filled with fun and engaging evidence-based literacy activities and games, and high interest non-fiction stories with a focus on providing access to reading materials for students in Title 1 schools (50% or more receive free or reduced lunch, a key indicator of poverty). For the latest digital version, please go to: https://www.kidscoopnews.org/digital-edition/.
Receiving Kid Scoop News is like receiving a free book a month during the school year, or the equivalent of 9 books/school year they take home to share with their families! Every issue includes a bilingual parent insert to encourage and support greater engagement by parents and other caregivers resulting in increased time spent at home reading together for pleasure.
Providing access to this literacy rich support helps to bridge the gap of a lack of access to reading material and makes reading fun!
